Methodist Church Te Haahi Weteriana National Conference

The annual meeting of the governing body the Methodist Church of New Zealand Te Haahi Weteriana o Aotearoa, is hosted in Christchurch this year. Rev Setaita Veikune will be inducted as President – and is the first Pacific woman to be appointed to this role.

  • 7:30pm, Friday 28 September – Wesley Historical Society Annual Lecture by Prof Barbara Brooks (Otago University) on: “For God, Home and Humanity: Women’s Suffrage and Social Change” examining the motivations of the suffragists in 1893, what they hoped to achieve and how the world has changed for women in the ensuing 125 years, Senior Common Room, St Andrews College (everyone welcome).
  • 7:30pm, Friday 28 September – Youth Event, Gymnasium No.1, St Andrews College (All welcome)
  • 6:30-10:30pm, Saturday 29 September – Multi-Cultural Festival Night, Gymnasium No.1, St Andrews College (includes evening meal, everyone welcome – no charge)
  • 2:00pm, Sunday 30 September – Ordination Service, Chapel, St Andrews College (followed by afternoon tea in the Senior Common Room).
  • 6:00pm, Sunday 30 September – Methodist Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Network & Friends GLAM Dinner, Little High Eatery, 225 St Asaph Street. (All welcome, but please RSVP for details kmwalters2010@gmail.com).
