Leanne Pooley (director of The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls) examines the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and the impact it will have on the world in the documentary, We Need to Talk about AI (1hr 26mins) – hearing differing views from global leaders in physics, neuroscience and philosophy on this new frontier, including NZ’s own Mark Sagar (Chief Scientific Officer, Soul Machines; University of Auckland; and Weta Digital) on his Baby X.
Be a part of what some call “the most important conversation in human history”. Among the questions touched on: will AI change life for the better? Will it destroy humanity or save it? And how can people prepare for a future involving AI? The documentary is narrated by American actor Keir Dullea, who faced off against an unhelpful AI, HAL 9000 (Heuristically programmed Algorithmic computer), in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 classic masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey.
