Every Spring our church focuses on God’s creation as part of the current national Methodist Church’s 10 year strategic plan, Rekindling the Vā of Papatūānuku. Last weekend a group of Durham Street Methodists enjoyed a stay at Hinewai Reserve visitor hut on Banks Peninsula. A full house of 14 folk (from 3 to 70yrs+) enjoyed luscious regenerated native greenery, sparkling rivers and waterfalls, and beautiful bird song in some of the most brilliant weather so far this season.
Hinewai Reserve is a ground-breaking ecological restoration on 1,250 hectares on Banks Peninsula (east of Akaroa). A 30-min documentary, Fools & Dreamers, gives more information.
Very special thanks to organisers Natalie and May!
