Christian World Service Supporter’s Council

October 30, 2020 @ 6:00-9:30pmCWS

This special Supporters’ Council celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Christian World Service (CWS), when Archbishop West Watson launched the first Christmas Appeal in a letter to The Press on 15 Dec 1945 – appealing for funds for war-torn Greece. The tradition of international cooperation and partnership has continued ever since.

The Supporters’ Council is made up of partner churches, organisations and individuals committed to the vision, values and objectives of Christian World Service and who have provided financial support for CWS work in the past two years.

Friday 30 October 2020 in Wananga Room, Aldersgate, 309 Durham Street North, Christchurch

6:00pm: Opens

6:30pm: Refreshments

7:30pm: Prof David Tombs (Centre for Theology and Public Issues, University of Otago) Who are we? Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future: What might liberation theologies from the Global South offer to current reflection at CWS on ‘Who are we?’ Do these theologies belong only to the past?  Or do liberation theologies offer insights for the present and the future?

Join the conversation, review CWS’s past year’s work, welcome three new CWS Board members, and elect Supporters Council representative to Board.
